There is no question that downtown San Francisco has been radically altered by the COVID-19 pandemic. The neighborhoods that account for the city’s densest core have become shadows of their former selves, with vacant streets and countless beloved businesses shuttered — many of them permanently. However, with several major companies setting dates for their employees to return, a new normal will soon take shape. But should this new normal, one that will likely reflect a downtown that we’re all familiar with, be enough? Or should we be aiming for something more transformational? From the easily implementable to the blue-sky and aspirational, what are the policy moves, design innovations and best practices that San Franciscans should be considering as we navigate the post-pandemic future of this critical part of the city? Join us for a series of inspiring, rapid-fire presentations about what the future could — and should — hold for downtown San Francisco.
