Since the beginning of the twentieth century, the federal government has issued funding to assist states in the construction and maintenance of highways and bridges along federal roadways. In recent decades, these funding initiatives have expanded in scope to cover a variety of transportation-related issues, and have evolved into multi-year, comprehensive transportation funding bills known as surface transportation acts. The 2015 surface transportation act — known as the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act — allocated $305 billion dollars in transportation spending over five years and is coming up for reauthorization. At the same time, the White House has centered sustainable and equitable transportation spending in its plans for economic recovery. How can these two opportunities dovetail to benefit California? Join a panel of transportation leaders with insight into the Biden/Harris Administration's plans for a discussion about federal transportation reauthorization and the opportunities and risks that this reauthorization holds for our state.
