California's Transportation Agenda in a Second Trump Presidency

Digital Discourse

to

Caltrain Station, San Francisco

California is bracing for the impacts of a second Trump presidency. The state's economic, climate, and affordability goals have driven the state's aspirations to expand the state's transit network. The state has invested heavily in these projects, partly on the assumption that it is a match for federal dollars. While much is still uncertain, it's time to begin thinking about whether the new Trump administration will maintain these commitments, how might the state or region react to changes in direction at the national level, and what it could mean for transit—particularly in the midst of ongoing fiscal challenges for many transit operators and the state budget.
